Dialectical Behavior Therapy Adult Program

Current adult groups:

Adult DBT Skills Class, Tuesday Night: 6:30-8:15pm (Virtual)

Adult DBT Skills Class, Wednesday Night: 6:00-7:45pm (Virtual)

Adult DBT Skills Class, Thursday Midday: Noon-1:45pm (Virtual)

Adult DBT Skills Class, Thursday Night: 6:30-8:15pm (In-Person for vaccinated clients)

Advanced DBT Skills Group, Thursdays, 5:00pm-6:30pm, biweekly (Virtual)

Summer Intensive College DBT Group Times for next year TBD (Virtual)
 

Virtual Groups are for those residing in Virginia or the District of Columbia only.
In-person groups are for vaccinated clients. 

 

Rankin Behavioral Health offers two Adult DBT Services:

First, clients are assessed to determine which service we recommend in our Pretreatment Process.

  • Comprehensive DBT includes once a week DBT Skills Group, once a week with a DBT  Individual Therapist who attends a weekly DBT Consultation Team, and Phone Coaching between sessions. Treatment starts with at least four pretreatment individual sessions.

  • DBT Group Only can be an option for clients with more mild symptoms.  We provide once per week DBT Skills Group.  Clients must also attend weekly individual therapy with an outside therapist with whom a treatment plan for collaboration has been developed prior to your pretreament intake sessions.  Group Only clients attend at least two pretreament individual sessions with our practice. 

  • Going through all the skills is 24 sessions in 3 Modules over 6 months.  

  • Many people benefit from learning the skills twice, which takes a year.

  • Group entry points are in the first three sessions of each Module, and the pretreatment individual sessions are done within two months of group entry.

  • Group is prebilled for each Module (7-9 sessions prebilled depending on the module).

  • There are no refunds for missed groups.

  • We give you a statement after each group and individual session you attend to submit for insurance reimbursement.

  • You consistently attend one group time per week.  

  • Twice per module, you can make-ups in another group, if you cannot attend your group.

  • For virtual groups, you must be physically located in a state where your group leader is licensed during each group session.

 

Billing and Group Entry will occur on the schedule below. Remember that you enter the group only after pretreatment sessions.

    8 sessions of Mindfulness & Distress Tolerance

    No class November 21, 22, & 23 (Thanksgiving week)

    No class December 26, 27, 28 (New Year’s Week)

Group starting January 23, 24, & 25, 2024:

    7 sessions of Mindfulness & Interpersonal Effectiveness

Group starting March 12, 13, & 14, 2024:

    9 sessions of Mindfulness & Emotion Regulation

Group starting May 14, 15, & 16, 2024:

    8 sessions of Mindfulness & Distress Tolerance

          No class July 2, 3, & 4, 2024 (4th of July week)

Group starting July 16, 17, & 18, 2024:

    7 sessions of Mindfulness & Interpersonal Effectiveness

           No class September 3, 4, & 5, 2024 (Labor Day week)

Group starting September 10, 11, 12, 2024:

    9 sessions of Mindfulness & Emotion Regulation

Group starting November 12, 13, & 14, 2024:

    7 sessions of Mindfulness & Distress Tolerance

         No class November 26, 27, & 28, 2024 (Thanksgiving week)

         No class December 24 - Jan 2 (Winter Holidays)
